Hiking
Surrounding the Lake Tahoe Basin are hundreds of miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous, that branch off into unspoiled wilderness area, monitored by the U.S. Forest Service. Explore our world renowned trails such as the Tahoe Rim Trail or the Flume Trail. For those looking for something a little easier, take a stroll on one of the paved paths along the lake. Regardless of what your heart desires, hiking at Lake Tahoe offers a little something for everyone.

Fishing
Get a line wet and try your luck with catching a Mackinaw (Lake Trout), which is the main attraction at Lake Tahoe, and the most famous Mackinaw lake in the west. "Macks" from three to five pounds are an everyday occurrence, six to ten pounds are quite common, and fish of 20 pounds or larger are a very real possibility. Mackinaw are true "Giants of the Deep" and provide very exciting fishing year round on Lake Tahoe.

Camping
Lake Tahoe boasts as much good camping as just about anywhere on earth. But what really makes it special here is the amount of truly great camping sites you'll find. Whether you want to be overlooking a sandy beach in a sheltered cove or on the shores of a desolate alpine lake, you can find it here.

Golf
They say, at 6,000' elevation, the golf ball travels 25 yards farther on a drive!! Lake Tahoe offers the perfect condition for that golf shot you'll remember for a lifetime. General guide is to hit one club less than you would at sea level. So, when packing for your trip, don't forget the clubs.

Tennis
Due to the elevation of the lake, playing a round of tennis will surely get the heart pumping. There are a number of private tennis courts around the lake, and in the valley, that offer a wonderful playing experience for any skill level.

Mountain Biking
Mountain biking at Lake Tahoe is not just a sport, it's a lifestyle! Bike paths, dirt roads, single tracks and bike parks are all around the lake. There are many scenic and mellow rides and plenty of steep, rocky treks in the mountains. Some ski resorts have bike parks where you can buy a lift ticket, "ride" effortlessly to the summit and then careen your way down dusty ski trails. There are even companies that offer guided backcountry tours ranging from hours to days.
